in Diabetes Overview Facts

There is a perception in our society that diabetes is disease of old people and the ones who are obese and if anyone doesn’t fall in anyone of these categories then he/she has nothing to worry about. These beliefs might have some element of truth in them if one considers the studies which were conducted some years back, when it was believed that diabetes develops after a certain age, and when one considers the fact that age and obesity increase the chances of the onset of diabetes. But these beliefs are also not entirely true and recent studies and surveys have revealed that many young children have diabetes and many people who are not overweight are also under the same situation.

Who is susceptible to diabetes type-2

This disease is a heredity disease which can be transferred from one generation to the next and if one has a gene in his/her DNA for this disease then he/she might endure this disease. It is also not compulsory that a person who has the gene will surely get the disease, as he/she might get away from getting the disease in whole life if he/she molds his/her life according to the healthy ways from the very beginning and continues it for whole of the life. This is to undo the effect of other risk factors and keep your body in best physical condition. In case when you don’t have such gene in you DNA, then you will not get diabetes.

Chances of getting the diabetes have also something to do with exactly what origin you belong to. Whether you belong to some specific ethnic groups such, as Hipanic Americans, African Americans and Indian Americans, or not? If not then you are in low risk category. But if you belong to one of these ethnic groups then you are on a higher risk of getting diabetes than a person from another group of people. Again as explained earlier, it is not bound that you will surely get the disease, it all depends on how well you manage your life to keep complications away from you and earn a healthy life.
