in Low Blood Glucose

The diabetes is a disease which is known commonly as the one in which the blood glucose levels become out of control and reach dangerous heights. Undoubtedly, controlling this surge in blood glucose is the main problem that is faced by the people suffering from the diabetes. Sometimes instead of rising, blood sugar level falls to low levels and creates an alarming situation. This situation might be the outcome of high insulin dose injected or starving. This deprives the body of the glucose and hence primary source of energy is not provided to the cells of the body, and extreme weakness is felt. The situation is called hypoglycemia. Another reason for such a situation might be rigorous exercise, especially when the body has very little amount of glucose in the blood to be supplied to the glucose requiring muscle cells.

Hypoglycemia – the dangers of low blood sugar

Within minutes, hypoglycemia can create many problems, including coma followed by death in extreme cases. 10 years and older children might not encounter this situation very often, as well as many adults, but this is the situation where there is no room for any carelessness, so the situation must be addressed appropriately, immediately. For this, its symptoms are needed to be understood.

When a person is in the situation of hypoglycemia, he/she will feel distinct changes in the body, such as loss of speech, confusion, trembling of hands, inability to perform the routine tasks. These symptoms are often easily recognized by the patients and hence, are needed to be rectified immediately, usually by eating some food rich in carbohydrates, which can be digested and given to the bloodstream immediately. Sweating, anxiety, agitation, and pounding of heart heavily, blurred vision and hunger pangs are also amongst the symptoms. For high blood glucose levels, symptoms are not obvious.

Learn from your experience and be able to recognize the situation of your body in hypoglycemia condition and treat the situation sharply. Best way is to eat some glucose-enriched food item or drink some juice. Keep some sweet item, such as a candy, always with you for emergency purpose.
